How to Clean Pendent Lights

Such kinds of pendants are attached to the ceiling with the help of a chain or with a steel cable and it also consists of different shades.

The brightness of the pendent lights decreases because of the dirt and dust on their glass and it also reduces and decreases its aesthetic appeal. Pendent lights should be cleaned on a regular basis before it gets extra dirty and grimy.

•    Pair of gloves

Take Necessary Precautions

In order to start any type of work with the pendant lights, always make sure to turn off the power supply. Ladder is placed on an equal or the even surface in a way that it is easier and convenient for you to climb up and reach to the light pendants. During the process of cleaning a pair of gloves should be worn in order to avoid and evade the allergic and sensitize reaction from the scrubbing and cleaning products.

Step 2

Dismantle the Glass Pendant Lighting

Different pendent lights are assembled by different corporations. And because of this the procedure to dismantle the lights also differs. Following are the common steps that need to be followed.

•    Before working on the shade removal, the electric bulb should be taken off.
•    In order to eradicate the shade, a screwdriver is used or the holders are unclipped that are basically holding the shades.

Step 3

Clean the Glass Pendant Lighting

In this stage you are going to determine how much the shade is dirty. You need to take water and liquid soap and make a mixture of it for the cleaning purpose. The glass shade is soaked in the prepared mixture for about 10 minutes and after this removes it. Remember that an abrasive cloth should not be used in case, if the shade is basically hand painted. A dishwasher should not be used as it is extra strong and solid for the shades and it is going to break them.

And when the shade is soaked, bring them out and you need to buff them with the help of a clean cloth or rag. A glass cleaner can also be used. A grease remover is used, in case, if the pendent light is extremely dirty and grimy. Because, the thick coating of grease is not removed and cleaned with the help of water and soap. Electric bulb is cleaned with the help of a clean and wet rag and cloth. Its clean wiping is going to enhance its brilliance and brightness.

Step 4

Reassemble the Pieces

When bulb and shade is dried, then, the shade is installed again. Also ensure that power is off and ladder is placed properly. The pendent light is stepping away when the bulb and the shade are reinstalled and then, turn it on.
